Background of this deadly virus
The deadly virus that no one knew
much about was discovered in the in the 1976 in two simultaneous outbreaks, one
in Nzara, Sudan and the other Yambuku, Democratic of Congo. Then was later
discovered in West Africa in March 2014, and then started spreading to other
parts of the continent and the other parts of the world. The most affected
countries are Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia as they have very weak health
systems lacking humans and infrastructural resources.
Symptoms
Then symptoms that one will experience
if infected are a sudden fever fatigue, muscle pain, headache and a sore
throat, followed by vomiting , diarrhea, rash, symptoms of impaired kidney and
liver function and in some cases both
external and internal bleeding.

Treatment and vaccines
Treatment and vaccines are offered
to infected people to help fight the virus , treatments
such as supportive care-rehydration with oral or intravenous fluid and
treatment of specific symptoms, improves survival opportunities. Thou there is
no proven treatment available for EVD. Thou a range of potential treatments
including blood product, immune therapies and drug therapies are currently
being evaluated. There are no licensed vaccines available yet , but two potential
vaccines are under going human safety testing.
Controlling infections in health-care settings
Health-care workers need to be extra
careful when dealing with infected patients. This include basic hand hygiene, respiratory
hygiene. Health care workers need to be
extra careful when assisting the infected patients as the virus infects in
minutes. To try control the virus if one has the relevant symptoms must rush to
the nearest clinic or hospital to get the required help and treatment or may
contact the Ebola contact center for
guidelines on what to do regarding the symptoms you experiencing.
This virus has shaken the world and arouse
questions on how a virus you can just get infection by sitting next to a person
or breathing the same breath. This virus is quite brutal it doesn’t even allow
you to touch you loved been sick or dead, I feel this would delay me to accept
that my loved has passed on. How long to
we have to wait to get a cure or an anti Ebola vaccine?? As we losing loosing lives
due to this virus and we don’t have concrete answers or solutions on what to
avoid in order avoiding getting infected by this brutal virus Ebola.
